Hilde Skancke Pedersen - Scenographer and costume designer
Hilde Skancke Pedersen was born in Hammerfest and lives in Kautokeino. She graduated from Statens Håndverks- og Kunstindustriskole in Oslo and Forfatterstudiet, University of Tromsø.
Hilde works as a visual artist, playwriter and scenographer / costume designer. In all these genres she is influenced by nature, the environment, culture and the surroundings of the places she has lived and visited, but is most influenced by life in Finnmark.
She has worked with set design and costume design for the stage, TV and film, and has participated in a scenography exhibition at the Kunstindustrimuseet in Oslo. She has worked with Stellaris DansTeater since the early 1990s.
As a visual artist her major work is an art project to the plenary hall and foyer in the Sami Parliament. She has had numerous solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad. As a curator and procurement consultant, she has worked with art for public spaces and museums.
The play "Vardøger - Váigasat" (1999) and dthe ramatisation of Laila Stiens novel "Inventors Song" (2007) was produced for the stage by Beaivváš Našunálateáhter among others.
Hilde has also been on stage with her own texts in the Stellaris-production 'Pusterom' (Breathing Space). She has participated in performance with the performance group Cabal in Gothenburg, Bohuslän and Kautokeino (2014) and in a solo performance in New York in spring 2015.
