TRÅ DANSEN 70°39′N: Jubilee Weekend September 4 - 7

JUBILEE WEEKEND IN THE PRESS (NORWEGIAN)

We invite everyone to an anniversary weekend in Hammerfest, where we offer several dance performances and meetings. We have planned a comprehensive program including ‘Ocean Antics’ and ‘Whispers - by The Pearly Gates’, excerpts from ‘Where the Mainland Floats’ and 'Hanging by a Thread’. New productions as 'Digital signs’ and 'Crack the Codes' with the YoungChoreographers are on the agenda, alongside a Gala Concert with Stellaris DansTeater and guests, exhibitions and several happenings at various stations in the city. We have developed many colleagues, partners and a large network over the years, and it is therefore natural to invite anyone who has the opportunity to join the celebrations.

    Dær Fastlandet Flyt
Leinan-Hermo has several in dance performances been inspired by experiences and perceptions from her own childhood environment in Finnmark. Nature is a very important part of the inspiration for Dær Fastlandet Flyt, but the experience is also linked to other dimensions: Memories from childhood to adulthood has created feelings of a land that is always in motion. Sea, sky and land as one space in nature. Read more here.

    I Hengende Snøre
The coastal community is set as a frame around the choreography, I Hengende Snøre, in which fish and sea are central. The respect for an industry and coastal communities have inspired her to create another performance that involves her own childhood environment. Read more here.

Saturday 5th of September
  • 9:30 - 11.00 - Workshop ‘Toolbox’ with Shi Pratt (for professional dancers)Open or Close
Connecting to the inherent intelligence of the body we practice our ability to enhance creativity, elaborate and sharpen our responses in improvisation and choreography. The class takes inspiration from Gaga methodology and elaborates with the knowledge of Gyrokinesis, body awareness and my current work in movement research which is motivated by changing themes and dynamics.

In class we explore the rich vocabulary of our senses, visiting the different textures of our body, our musicality, rhythm and speed, allowing ourselves to play with shape and form, explosiveness, animality and delicacy. Classes include task-oriented exercises, floor work, applied knowledge of anatomy into the moving body, partner/group collaborations, and engaging in choreographic and compositional ideas.

We expand our exploration of movement creation by connecting to the pleasure of dancing, to the space around and between us, to our ability to articulate playfulness and efficiency, and ultimately bring awareness to the choices we make in movement material and improvisation. The classes are built upon an ongoing compilation of information and research which allows the method to continuously develop side by side with my creations.

The classes are arranged by Stellaris DansTeater, FnnD and Dansetrening i Tromsø.

There has been a lot of laughter, map reading and dancing on the way, and we have gathered many colleagues and friends. We have invited several of them to give the Jubilants a gift during 'Treffpunkt Nord’. The stage is set for a great performance with a lot of energy and dance variations from many different countries. We do not yet know what the “gifts" are, but Hammerfest will surely receive a huge one. We hope the audience will come join the party!
