Dær Fastlandet Flyt

(Where the Mainland Floats)

A dance performance by Solveig Leinan-Hermo

Choreographer Solveig Leinan-Hermo has several in dance performances been inspired by experiences and perceptions from her own childhood environment in Finnmark. Nature is a very important part of the inspiration for ‘Dær Fastlandet Flyt’, but the experience is also linked to other dimensions: Memories from childhood to adulthood has created a sensation of a land that is always in motion. Sea, sky and land together as a nature landscape. Humans are part of this natural space with various elements and with strong contrasts such as life and death, faith and doubt. The performance is shown as scenes, and has no storyline.

Dær Fastlandet Flyt marked Stellaris DansTeater's 20th anniversary in 2000. In 2012 the performance had a new premiere, and the audience experienced a re-worked version of the original. The performance which shortened by two scenes, was also shown during our jubilee celebration TRÅ DANSEN 70°39′N in September 2015. It is this version which will be shown at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet, where Solveig started her dance career.

What the newspapers said about the performance in 2000:
Nordlys: Stylized movements and frozen moments of beauty. The show is a synthesis of precision and perfectionism - a majestic and breathless revelation of creativity.
Finnmark Dagblad: An intense journey through northern Norway, carried forward by the hard-working dancers in this excellent performance.
Dagbladet, Oslo: Dance is best from Hammerfest
